The Honour Roll
Wednesday night. I have appointed myself keeper of the honour roll. Nobody else was doing it with sufficient seriousness.
Here is how a class gets onto it. They pass the final test, the gamesmaster writes down how long they took and how many hints they needed, and the quickest are listed, academy by academy. If two classes finish in the same time, the one that asked for fewer hints goes higher. Only first names appear. The Professor would like it known that he values privacy, wherever he is.
There is no shame in asking for a hint. I have watched classes sit in silence for ten minutes rather than ask, and I have watched classes ask at once and sail on. The second sort enjoy themselves more.
A first-year asked whether owls can be on the honour roll. I said I would consider it. I am still considering it. It is a large decision.
